How do I reclaim pre registration VAT on Quickbooks?

You can do it so it shows as an exception 

You would have to turn off mtd in the account then do a one day vat return for 00.00 across the board then turn mtd back on again and then change the vat on the transactions. The VAT needs to be no vat on the transactions you wants and then after you have a return in qbo you can then put the vat on the transactions and they will pull through as exceptions and you should have a reclaim box to tick or you can speak to a trained and qualified accountant who will be able to advise and help you with this as we are not trained accountants just technical support.
