I have 2 VAT refunds from different quarters from HMRC that were received prior to using quick books. How do I go about recording these? I'm fairy new to quick books so the more info you can give me the better. I did record them to the VAT suspense account but when setting the VAT code I'm only getting an option for sales or purchases when these payments are neither. Thank you.
I have migrated my bookkeeping data from another software to QuickBooks online. I want to mark my older VAT returns in Auickbooks as filed. I am not able to see these VAT returns on my Taxes tab. Please suggest jhow to generate these older returns on Qb online and how to mark them as filed
I am unable to enter my VAT figures on my current VAT Return as no adjust option appears at the side of any of the boxes. How do I enter the figures?
I'm using the flat rate scheme FPS setting and I thought the filing action on QB would create the correct return calculating output VAT at 7.5% of gross sales but it remains at 20% of net sales. I cannot see how to delete/unfile the return anywhere on QB. I will then need to redo it - how do I get it to arrive at the correct sales VAT according to FPS?
We often receive "requests for payment" which are not VAT invoices. Vat invoices are only issued once payment has been made. How do we enter such requests for payment in Quickbooks so as to keep track of what we owe?
Whole 3 weeks … and my brain is totally exhausted…I’ve tried everything, including speaking on the phone with someone – no resolution!!!! Q1. A Journal entry (debit/credit) about a VAT PAID to HMRC for a previous period is appearing in my latest VAT return that is to be prepared and submitted. I need this payment to leave that latest report and I can’t remove it. When I EDIT the journal entry, it tells me I can only change the date, that’s it. Nothing else. It messes me up as in the actual return (the one that I need to submit) that payment is in the ‘DECREASE’ column. ANYONE? ANY HELP? In the Journal entry – VAT Control – Debits - £XXX; VAT Suspense – Credits - £XXX. Is that even correct?, which takes me to the next question: Q2. Three of the VAT returns were submitted outside QB. In what CATEGORY should I record the payments and reclaimed payments so they WON’T appear when the next VAT report is to be prepared?
I have recently registered for VAT, and am awaiting HMRC to finish processing my application. Whilst waiting, I want to get my accounts prepared for my first return. However I can't get past the "enter your VAT registration number". I want to get the figures into the system and also explore how it all works. Does anyone know how this can be done, or if there is a workaround?
Hi,I'll try and explain this one as best as possible, here goes:In August I paid an outstanding VAT balance to HMRC, let's say this was £500 to keep it simple, I paid the day before it was due. I then did a VAT return for September and they owed me, let's say £600, however my payment crossed with their payment so they only paid me £100 as they thought I owed £500.So:August Payment due £500, paid £500September Refund due £600 received £100 They have realised and the next time I needed to pay them again they reduced my payment by £500 but I can't get it to match up in Quickbooks! I have 2 outstanding balances in Quickbooks, one which shows they owe me £500 and one which shows I owe them £500, is there any way to offset these against each other in the VAT / Taxes section? I'm not sure the above makes sense when I read it back, but put simply I've made a payment to them and they thought I hadn't, but when they di
