My VAT account with HMRC shows the only outstanding return for period 1/7 to 30/9 can you amend the date of the open return showing in QB ASAP so I can file?

When you submit an open return, you should be able to amend the dates from the Prepare VAT return section in QuickBooks. You'll be able to change the accounting period, end date, and submission date before submitting them over to HMRC.
