Question

The client filed his own VAT. How do I mark the VAT return as filed on Quick Books?

Hello Cvclaudineventer

Can we ask do you have Making Tax Digital turned on in your QuickBooks?

If so the best thing to do is to ask the client to sign in and go to taxes>prepare return>on the drop down arrow to the right of submit to HMRC there is a mark as filed as the fact MTD is turned on will likely mean that if you went to this section in your clients QB you would not have that option.

The alternative if your client is not available to contact would be to go to manage users on the client account and add yourself with a totally different email to your Accountant QuickBooks and then accept the invite. When you sign in with that email it will take you to sign in as a small business user. You would then have access to mark as filed as above

Any questions just reply back to the thread

Thanks
