I am purchasing items and paying for them before hand with credit card and want to manage inventory for them, would I create a purchase orders?

Being able to track your purchases and inventory is one of the features QuickBooks Online makes easy to help you save time and effort. I'd be happy to help you get your purchased items entered.

In order to track inventory that you purchase it's recommended to use the purchase order function even if you purchased the items before hand. If you did purchase them before entering them in your QuickBooks Online account just make sure you enter the correct date and payment method used. This will prevent any issues with reconciling your accounts later. In order to make a purchase order and later add it to a bill you can follow the steps in this article.
