To ensure we are on the same page and to provide you with the most accurate assistance, could you please confirm if by “recode,” you are referring to the process of reclassifying transactions to different accounts or categories within QuickBooks Online (QBO)? If so, I can share a few information about this and ensure you can reassign them to a different account , Claire.

While the Plus, Essentials, and Simple Start versions of QuickBooks Online currently allow you to reclassify transactions one at a time, this process is easy and manageable.

You can reclassify transactions one at a time when using the Plus, Essentials and Simple Start version. To help you navigate, I’ve put together some simple steps for you:

  1. Go to the Gear icon, and select Chart of accounts.
  2. Locate the account that contains the transactions.
  3. Click the Account history hyperlink.
  4. Choose the transaction, and edit the account.

  5. Hit Save.

On the other hand, if you're using QuickBooks Online Accountant or the Advanced version, you can use the reclassify tool to save time and make changes to multiple transactions at once. I've add this article for you: Reclassify or Move Multiple Transactions in QuickBooks Online Accountant and Advanced

Once you've organized and correctly categorized your transactions, it is important to reconcile your accounts to ensure accurate, reliable, and compliant financial management: Reconcile An Account in QuickBooks Online.

If you have any questions or concerns about recoding or reclassifying transactions, let us know so we can get back to you.
