I downloaded bank transactions from my bank into a qbo file, and then tried to upload the file into quickbooks, and QB says the file isn't a valid web connect file??

Hi, DPInc2003.

Let’s work together to make sure you can successfully upload your bank transactions to QuickBooks Online (QBO).

This error occurs when QuickBooks detects formatting issues or data inconsistencies that prevent you from successfully uploading your transaction. QBO supports specific file extensions for manually uploading bank transactions. Before proceeding, I recommend verifying the downloaded file from your bank to ensure it matches the required format.

  • Comma-separated values (CSV)
  • Quicken (QFX)
  • Microsoft Money (OFX)

Also, please note that the maximum allowable file size for uploads is 350 KB or smaller.

If your bank format is supported in QBO and the issue persists, I suggest logging out and then logging back in. After that, you can follow these two alternative way to upload your bank transactions in QBO using the Gear icon or on the Bank transactions page. I'll outline the steps to achieve this.

To upload transactions using the Gear icon:

  1. Log in to your QBO account.
  2. Navigate to the Gear icon and select Import data.
  3. Choose Bank Data and click Drag and drop or select files to upload.
  4. Follow the onscreen instructions to complete the upload process.
  5. Once the import is complete, click Done.

To upload transactions from the Bank transactions page:

  1. Go to All Apps and select Accounting.
  2. Click Bank Transactions and use the drop-down menu under Link Account.
  3. Choose Upload from file, then Drag and drop or select your file to upload.
  4. Follow the on-screen directions to complete the process.

Use the trial version of csv2qbo converter tool to isolate the problem.
