If I setup a recurring sales receipt to automate the CC payment, do I delete the recurring invoice?

Hi there, Lorraine. Yes, you can delete the recurring invoice once you’ve confirmed the new recurring sales receipt is set up correctly. A recurring sales receipt records the payment immediately, while a recurring invoice only creates a draft invoice for the customer to pay later.

If the customer switched to autopay and you’re receiving payment immediately, you’d typically stop the recurring invoice and use the recurring sales receipt instead, since a sales receipt records payment at the time of sale. You wouldn’t want both running, as that would duplicate your income.

For detailed guidance on setting up recurring sales receipts and automating customer payments, you can refer to this QuickBooks article: Set up a recurring sales receipt.
