Switched from QB Desktop Premier 2018 to QBO… garbage

Recently switched from desktop to QBO… no easy data migration.

The way QBO exports excel reports and formulas is ridiculous.  No built in loan manager.  No ability to create items as a percent of a subtotal (eg credit card surcharge).  Slow!, despite having fast computers and network.  Constant log outs.

the list goes on… utter garbage compared to the desktop version.  Wish we could go back.

I understand your frustration. While QBO doesn’t include a built-in loan manager, the best approach is to set up a Liability Account and use journal entries to record principal and interest. For percentage-based surcharges, manually calculate the amount based on the subtotal and enter it in the item line to keep invoices accurate.

Regarding Excel exports, QBO provides more raw data compared to the formatted reports that QuickBooks Desktop generates. In many cases, customizing the report before exporting can help preserve the structure you need.

For the logout issue, you can extend your session time by going to the Gear icon > Account and Settings > Advanced. Under the Other preferences section, change the Notify me if inactive for to 3 hours. If performance is slow, you can refer to this article to review browser performance and system factors: Why is my QuickBooks Online slow?.

Why don't you consider switching back to QB Desktop?
