How do I create a loan account that has an initial amount where a portion goes to a fee, another portion pays off a credit card account, and the balance is deposited into the checking account?
Hi everyone, I wanted to start a discussion around simplifying everyday bookkeeping and operational updates in QuickBooks, especially when information comes up during calls, meetings, or while multitasking. In many small businesses and finance workflows, expenses, notes, follow-ups, or reminders are often recorded later—after a call or at the end of the day. This can lead to delays or missed context. One approach we’ve been exploring is using voice-based integrations with tools like Gennie, where users can speak quick notes, expense details, or follow-up tasks and sync them with the tools they already use, while QuickBooks remains the system of record. Example use cases:Capturing expense notes or reminders by voiceLogging quick summaries after client or vendor callsCreating follow-up tasks related to invoices or paymentsReducing context switching between conversations and bookkeepingI’d love to hear from other QuickBooks users: How do you currently capture fina
I am a new user of QBO. I recently started working with SecurityMetrics to ensure I am PCI compliant. According to their training, one of the things I need in place (we all need in place) is a written agreement with any third-party service provider (TPSP). Is QuickBooks considered a third-party, or are they a second-party? If a third-party, how do I go about getting a written agreement from them? My efforts to contact QuickBooks via any online available methods put me in an endless loop that doesn't get me anywhere. I'm calling Sales in the morning, which seems to be the only available phone number. Does anyone know how to get in touch with QuickBooks via email? If QuickBooks is the only platform thru which I conduct any financial transactions, what are the next steps I should take? Any guidance is thoroughly appreciated! Cheers!
Hello - our Checking and Savings Accounts with Digital Federal Credit Union connected to QB were both working correctly through most of this year. The Checking Acct connected to QB is still working fine; it updates correctly and I'm able to reconcile successfully. The Savings Acct, however, threw an error starting in August and stopped being able to update transactions. I attempted to 'fix' the error through the QB UI, but nothing happened. When I contacted QB Support, they were not able to make a successful connection to my Savings Acct and suggested that I import the transactions manually. I exported the CSV file from my bank and tried importing it. While the import was successful, it imported ALL of the transactions as positive - i.e. deposits - when there were both deposits and withdrawals on the file. Several attempts at changing the format of the file have not been successful - it sees all of the transactions as positive. This makes it impossible for me to reconcile the
How can I stop this popup from coming up every time my users make a change on an order? We just pgraded to Desktop Enterprise 21.0.

Hello! I use the Batch Edit feature for invoices with QBO Advanced every month. I edit hundreds of invoices with this method each month and wouldn't be able to do it otherwise. This month, for some reason, this functionality has broken for my company. QBO only displays 'Something's not quite right. Please retry.' when I try to save invoices with batch edit. I have tried different web browsers with no change, and I have tried batch editing different invoices, one or two at a time, and just retrying the same edit attempt constantly. Please help! I really can't think of anything that's changed in our set-up from last month, yet this feature doesn't work, and the error message displayed doesn't give any explanation at all as to what the problem is.
Is there an option for the funds I received from my customer to be available instantly? I have a qb payments account but don't have a qb online subscription
Bank changed login page and quickbook unable to connect , so re-added the same bank account again as 'new' and able to get the transactions from the time old was unable to get transaction . Now i have 2 accounts showing up in report , how to merge them without loosing old account transactions ?
I'm getting an error message as soon as start my set up. I have an existing company on QB desktop that I want to transfer data from after setup and I get the following message during the first step of setup. "Choose your Company" You can't add Quick Books Online to Shelter Providers of Orlando, Inc. with your existing subscription. Try another company or contact customer service.
Hello, Is it possible to set a limit on how early an employee can clock in, and how late they can clock out. IE, 5 minutes early or 5 minutes late, without needing a supervisor to approve the punch? this for Tsheets Kiosk
Every single transactions should be on the statements. The printed ending balance of one statement does not have the same printed beginning balance on the very next statement. Anyone have experience with this? I've been doing this a long time, I have never encountered this.
Bill payment not received by vendor and not deducted from bank but shows paid. Why?
Hi,In QuickBooks Online, posted invoices with mixed Product/Service line items appear to lock income at the item level. When those items were mapped to Uncategorized Income, the Reclassify Transactions tool cannot reallocate income, and batch reclassification is not available. Rules do not override invoice line income, and journal entry workarounds compromise AR integrity. Has anyone identified a supported method to reallocate income for historical posted invoices with mixed items, or is this a confirmed system limitation with no accountant-level workaround? Thanks in advance for any insight.
when I go to the list view of receipts to review, data is populated for me. if I open an expense, it blanks all the data including the date, category, amount, etc. clicking cancel don't save and going back to the list view, the data is now removed there as well for that expense. this seems like a new bug.
My balance is not showing. Instead I'm getting a "n/a" where the balance should be. I'm getting an error message as stated in the subject of this discussion. My running balance is set to display. I searched past queries and saw to clear my cookies. This did not work. I tried on a private browser in both Safari and Chrome. No luck. After I cleared cookies, now all of my transactions for years are out of order. This is a nightmare and is making me re-consider my use of Quickbooks. Please assist before I go elsewhere for both of my businesses bookkeeping. I'd really like to not have to do that.
Is there any way to get a report in QB Desktop Enterprise that either lists the checks for a date range that includes the Bills that they paid?Or conversely, a report that lists all the bills in a date range and the check number that paid it?If not in QB, any suggestions on 2 reports to export to Excel that I can use a VLookup formula to match up the bills & checks?
Been using QB since the days of DOS. Latest QB2020 is slowest of them all. Any reasonable fixes? It's not our hardware or operating system, nor the company file. We also backed up the company file, removed QB, cleaned the registry, re-installed. No joy
occasionally I need to personalize invoice messages before i send the invoice - that useed to be an option - however, now - i HAVE to use the template. Does anyone out there have a work 's around for that? I don't call qb's customer service anymore because they are not helpful - and i'm usually the one "supporting" them and showing them how to do things
Hello QuickBooks users, and thanks for joining us. As Year-End quickly approaches, we want to ensure you feel confident and prepared to finish the year successfully. This brief guide will walk you through 1099 forms, including when and where you need to file them. This guide focuses specifically on QuickBooks Online. To help you manage everything, we've broken down the key requirements for a smooth start to the new year. Is a 1099-NEC required? U.S. tax law mandates that you file a Form 1099-NEC for any person or entity you paid $600 or more to last year. This applies to contractors, freelancers, vendors, and any other non-employee. You must also file a 1099-NEC for anyone from whom you withheld federal income tax under the backup withholding rules. *Note that if you previously reported non-employee compensation in Box 7 of Form 1099-MISC, that information must now be reported on the Form 1099-NEC. The IRS provides specific criteria for classifying workers as empl
