QuickBooks Q&A
Recently active
All employee time & outside expenses marked as “Billable” for EVERYTHING is now showing as Non-Billable. Everything changed as of yesterday afternoon (8/18/26). Has anyone else had this issue?
The QB app keeps logging me out after not using it for a few days, resulting in it not tracking mileage. This is a major problem as now I'm having to go back through and check all my milage... Any way to fix this? From the app logging me out? Or if it does, how it can keep tracking my mileage?

Every single time I try to update my banking transactions, I get Error 324 for my two Ally Bank accounts. I click "Fix", re-enter the sign-in details and it syncs that one time. I have to do this every single time. Why isn't this connection staying connected??? There is nothing different at the bank site - no need to update password, etc.
The General Ledger report no longer sorts by Account Type when in Modern View. Each column in the GL has a sort feature, but there isn't a column choice to add Account Type. So while I can sort by Distribution Account, it still doesn't fall into a logical pattern. We want the GL to be in the same order as the chart of accounts. Standard View defaults to the correct sort, so I've been running the GL from there. How can I get the Modern View back to the default?
Wanted to post another thread since our original thread cannot be replied too. In typical Intuit fashion, it appears they pushed updates to their product and broke it. Users aren’t able to reply but there is fancy new UI! Thanks @cody_a & @JeraldR. Intuit continues to prove their incompetence. Nice to see the community forum was given a UI update while the shipping manager remains untouched.
I have had nothing but trouble lately with QBO running super super super slow. Is this related to having AI forced onto QBO customers? QBO suggests using Google Chrome and some days it won’t even load in Chrome, but it might or might not load in Firefox. How can we get our old data base back to work fluently?
I need to get contractors set up porperly for 1099's but I do not understand how QBO works in regards to this. It seems so messy. I just read to enter contractors under payroll. They are not employees. Where is this going. I added a contractor under Espenses/Contractors and it falls under Vendors. So why separate them?
Support confirmed that the QuickBooks app will not work on iOS 18.7 on the iPhone 13 Pro. Can you provide a full list of which iOS versions are incompatible with which iPhone models? This information should be readily available to users so they can avoid updating to a version that breaks compatibility — or worse, purchasing a phone that won’t work with QuickBooks at all. I was also told that iOS 26 will not work, and that QuickBooks will not function on the iPhone 17.If there are known incompatibilities, they should be published and easy to find. This is software development 101 — transparency on supported devices and operating systems is critical. Failing to do so creates major problems for long-time customers like me.As it stands, I now have to rely on an old iPhone XS Max tethered to my work iPhone just to run QuickBooks in the field. I’m about to upgrade that XS Max to iOS 18.7, but I’m taking a gamble because there’s no official information about what devices and iOS versions are s
When I filed my Qtr 1 941 report in April I had a discrepancy of $131.83. I hadn’t realized there was an error and was against the wall to file my report so I simply did an override. I thought wow, that was easy. And it was - until Qtr 2 came along.I know where the discrepancy occurred. For some reason the company contribution on one employee’s paycheck (3/20/26) had been set at $0.00. I received a CP161 notice and paid it through EFTPS on 6/2/26. Now QB shows I have a CREDIT of $131.83. I can’t find an adjustment or anything anywhere. I’ve tried every kind of adjustment I can think of and nothing changes. I tried adding the deduction back onto the employees paycheck (careful not to change the net pay) and it didn’t work. I even deleted the payment I made through EFTPS but the “credit” remains. I’m now almost 2 weeks late on filing the Qtr 2 report. All I can find online is that you need to make an adjustment -- I find nothing about HOW to do it. I ran a payroll checkup and of course

I see the message "Transactions not synced - Our connection to this account expired (3500" Then I reconnect and some transactions come in but then I get the message "We can't get transactions from Bank Name - Come back in a few hours and select Update (4009)
Hello, hoping someone can give me a permanent fix for this. I have gone through my clients books numerous times, deleting duplicate transactions. I have done this, reconciled, only to sign back on later and have all of the transactions I deleted from the register back. Its driving me nuts! How do I stop this from happening for good? I went into the review tab and only see each transaction once already categorized. No duplicates in the review tab. So not sure what is happening. All I know is I need to get this fixed ASAP so please help. Thank you.
So I believe i've been miss classifying credit card payments incorrectly. I have a business checking account and a business credit card account in the same quickbooks.I think I have been marking my credit card payments in my checking account as "Credit card payment" instead of "Transfer" so even after reconciling i'm ending up with a huge negative balance on my balance sheet. According to this other article i found https://quickbooks.intuit.com/learn-support/en-us/do-more-with-quickbooks/categorizing-credit-card-payments-and-transfers/01/1331240#M18057My checking out credit card payments should be categorized as "transfers" and on the credit card side, they should be marked as "credit card payments". What steps do i need to go about resolving this?
How do I get rid of manual entered transactions that a r a duplicate of a bank feed?
I have a matching rule. Yes. It is slightly unorthodox for internal reasons, but it is how we manage our books. The image shows that when I click "Test Rule" I get "This rule will apply to 1 currently unreviewed transaction."But, when I go to the Banking tab, QBO refuses the apply the rule. It refuses to use the rule and Instead is wants me to "Add a Card Payment".Refreshing the screen does not help. I have gone into the transaction several times to "Categorize" it correctly, but QBO just keeps insisting on attempting to do the job WRONG.I have over 30 years experience doing what needs to be done to get the books right. Is there some way to get the program to do what it is told instead of acting like a stubborn child that believes it knows everything? Or is the problem just that Intuit is the stubborn children here?
I have two separate bank accounts in my client's QB - PayPal and a normal banking account. The bank account funds the PayPal account via bank transfers and PayPal uses those funds to pay contractors. My question is how do I match 6+ month-old transfers from the bank account to the PayPal account? I was told by the QB support team that anything over 6 months old would not match due to the age of the transaction. If I go into each account and select "transfer" to record the transaction in each bank account, I will see a double entry on my balance sheet thus throwing it off drastically. Instead of recording double entries and then going back into the balance sheet to correct the error (zeroing out or voiding), is there a better way to go about this and essentially not have to do double the work? Thanks in advance!
Typically QB matches up payments that I have deposited with the correct payment receipt in the customer's account. But this week it suddenly stopped "finding" those payment receipts, particularly for mobile deposits, which is how I deposit 99% of our payments. I have already received the payments in the customers' accounts and am using the same procedure I have always used. Did something change on the QB end?
Trying to reconcile and the reconcile page says I'm not ready to begin since there's a huge difference between my current beginning balance and the last successful reconciliation yet I can look at the bank statement where I see the actual beginning balance is exactly the same as the last reconciliation ending balance. So, where does QBO come up with what it thinks is the beginning balance for this session and how can I fix that?
Modern View doesn't have amounts or a balance in the Transaction Journal when you drill down in the Trial Balance. The most ridiculous change I have seen yet. When I switch to Classic View all of the information is there. Accountants need numbers. Who had the idea to remove amounts from default reports?? Please fix this asap or you will have a not of unhappy customers. Anyone else having this major issue?? Thanks.
